Thread: How to: Make your own power steering high pressure hose

Alright, so I've gotten the parts in, editing this info because I don't think it applies anymore. Look below for b13/nx fix. Not sure about b14 but I doubt it's any different.

Can you clearify the HP lines? 16mm boths ends or 14mm and 16mm? I want to go from the pump straight to the rack....

FYI the hose end needs to be 2 not one. Still, under $40 shipped ain't bad!

Also, measured the distance from pump to rack, 23" so the 3ft is reasonable and you can loop and design freely, make the cut, and away you go

Nice, just make sure the hose can tolerate high pressure & corrosive oil.

The hose is ptfe. Anything ptfe does.

Seperate:


I tried a bunch of different ways to make the end as clean as possible. Reciprocating saw, hack saw with tape (on a how-to someplace else on the net), angle grinder...but I found 3 foot long bolt cutters to make the cleanest cut.

Teflon taped:


Don't own a vice, gotta be creative, make sure you're pushing against the hose not the nut to ensure proper fitment. Press against the nut only as much as you need to in order to get the thread started. Remember, the collar is not supposed to bottom out, if it does, you're probably doing it wrong. Recut, reseat, and try again.



Pipe's done. Off to get some copper crush washers, more pictures to follow.

i thought teflon tape was a no no on these type of things?
