HOW TO: Restore your factory door pillar vinyl
I know most people prefer just peeling the vinyl off to reveal the paint underneath, but I prefer the continuous black look, especially with Tint.
The door Vinyl on my G20 was fading bad, I decided to fix it with some black Vinyl I got from a sign shop.
After that, all you need is a squeege (or a credit card) and an exacto knife.

Here's a quick picture:
- Purchase: Sheet of Vinyl. Usually 3 feet wide, buy about 2 feet in length.
- Purchase: Alcohol (or Acetone/Methanol) based wipes
- Purchase: Abrasive pads (Scowering, steel wool, etc).
- Need: Edge of a credit card or Squeegee of some sort.
- Need: Exacto knife or sharp blade.
- Prep: Use Abrasive pad with some soapy water, remove any dirt or bumps from old surface.
- Prep: Clean with alcohol based wipes to ensure good surface contact and no grease.
- Cut: Piece of vinyl slightly larger than pillar.
- Apply: Vinyl, start at the top, work your way down using the edge of a credit card, ensure that no air bubbles form. The credit card will be what pushes on the vinyl, hold the lower portion of the vinyl away from the car.
- Apply: pressure to the edges, wrap the vinyl around the edge of the door and tuck the edges out of sight.
- Cut: around entire edge with exacto knife to finish off, leave enough material to tuck.
