great pix and write. I was thinking of doing this awhile back before I saw this thread and as I was researching, I came upon another method. You guys can search YouTube for videos or google it, but a "cone" is used so you DON'T have to hammer out the joints, which "could" potentially be problematic when you hammer away at something, and especailly joints or bearings. Basically, w/ this method, after you done all the prepping, you put the boot on inside out on the cone. As you're flipping it the other way, it goes in place. The only example I can provide is when you re removing or puttin on a condom...haha. how you roll it on..haha!

I paid to have a boot put on my Subie this way years ago.
First its not as easy as they make it sound, you have to cut off the old boot, and not damage the boot sealing surfaces.
And I bet its more expensive for the kit than a boot.

Of course if the joints are damaged you will need a rebuilt axle anyway.

My cv's have been clicking for about 1K miles. I want to rebuild my own axles since raxles just jumped big time price. What parts should I get and where to get good quality parts?
