on a classic with all the prothane mounts the way the engine sits won't allow you to get it out that way, but you can pull the fans and get it out that way.

Does anyone know if you have to take off the turbo manifold to get the alternator off on a GTIR SR? I cant get the Pivot bolt off without it rubbing on the manifold.

I just removed the alternator in my 98 SE-R. Tried it your way, and there was no way in hell I could get that thing out of there. I had to remove the upper rad hose and housing. I'm starting to hate this ****ing car.

I just started looking at the alternator on my boy's 99 SE-L and then quickly decided not to mess with it tonight. It looks to me like the lower pivot bolt won't come out enough because it will hit the frame. Am I seeing that right, or will it just sneak out below the frame rail? A friend of mine tried changing an alternator on a P10 a few years ago, and the lower pivot bolt wouldn't clear the frame, so he had to raise the engine. Am I going to run into the same thing here?
