Well put together!!
The Mobil oil filter also shares the OEM "oil trapping" design (did I spy one in one of the pics?). I buy them b/c they're more convenient for me to get ahold of. Seems like a good filter.
Its funny the aftermarket filter manufacturers are just recently getting it together and mimicking a 15 year (or more??) old design. Nissan really is one of the few cars that OEM always seems to work better.
ATF in your engine? REALLY?? YIKES!

Thanks.. Yes the gloves are a nice touch especially when its 15deg F out I actually had to microwave the oil before I poured it into the car to warm it up a little hehe.

I usually use Mobile filters or oem when I do my maintenance. More so Mobile because they are more convenient to get (the dealer is seldom open on a Sunday )

Anyway this day in age aftermarket oil filters have the anti-drain back valve in them. It's just a matter of the placement of them and the material they are made out of.

This is a pretty good read if you want to check out different filter construction: http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html

It was done by a Mopar guy but the analysis outcome should apply for all filter applications.

Maybe if we all recycle it we can help to save a little bit of Antarctica-the little bit thats left, anyway...

I'll 2nd that. They will take up to 20qts at a time and it's the responsible thing to do.

The article on oil filters should go somewhere where more people can see it...very cool, some great info there.
I turn into a cynical mean Irish bastard when I'm at Advance reading all of the "I'm the BEST filter EVER!!" crap they put all over the boxes. I've always used Mobil 1 synthetic so the filter was a no-brainer. Glad to see that it actually seems to be well-designed.
It always amazes me when people pick up No Name/QS/Fram filters. Sometimes I say things to them in the store, bad things I shouldn't say. Its one of the most important parts of the engine !!
I grew up in CT & Maine. Used to "help" da' change the oil in the 240s when I was a kid-thats why I loved the glove shot!!

My friend works in a shop and they use car oil to heat the place! I was amazed that they could recycle it like that, maybe I should set up something similar at my house

K&N are very good filters... from what I've read on similar studies, K&N filters are very similar to the Mobil 1 filters but with the addition of the nice nut on the end to help get em off.

The other two filters I use frequently are Bosch and Purolator Pure One - they're both a little cheaper than the Mobil 1 and K&N filters but are both very good quality filters from everything I've read. I use all 4 though. It just depends on what I feel like when I'm at the store and for which vehicle.
