ATTN P11 front Brake owners who Track their cars!!! Please read this!!!
also anyone who is thinking about upgrading to p11 brakes....

Hawk used to have a pad called the Hawk Blue Track pad but discontinued it a little over a year ago. That entire supply is now gone unless an individual person is hording them...

..but anyway... to make a long story short,

I would like to upgrade my p10 brakes to p11 for the track BUT have currently ZERO options for race brake pads except for expensive $172 option (ONE SINGLE OPTION for race front brake pads)

..so I've been appealing to Hawk (the MFGR) and working with my brake pad vendor I've been using for years (www.raceshopper.com) to try and get HAWK to make race pads for the p11.

Here is the bottom line.

HAWK said they require commitment for 20 sets before they make them.

My rep at Raceshopper said he needs 100% commitment for 15 sets before he agrees to buy 20 sets from Hawk.

The 2 options before us are as follows:

P11 Front Hawk HT-10 Race compound for $132 per set

OR

P11 Front Hawk DTC-60 Race Compound for $145 per set

so the BIG question is..... How many people here would commit?

I would commit to 2 or 3 sets (as we have gone through 3 sets of hawk blues already on the p10 in 3000 track miles anyway)

but I'm not about to buy 15 sets either....

Bottom line is this won't happen (and we simply wont do the p11 brake upgrade) if there isn't 100% purchase promise for 15 sets of EITHER the HT10 or the DTC-60 compound...

so.... whatcha say folks?

We have until about January to get 15 sets...

I would like to go for the cheaper HT10 compound myself...

in case anyone knows others who track, here is a list of what these pads would also work on:

99-02 Infiniti G20
93-01 Nissan Altima
03-05 Nissan 350z
04-06 Infiniti G35x AWD Sedan
03-04 Infiniti G35 sedan
03-04 Infiniti G35 coupe w/auto trans
94-00 Nissan Maxima
95-99 Infiniti I30
89-94 Nissan Maxima
89-93 Skyline GTS
99-03 Nissan Maxima (non 6speed versions)
00-01 Infinit I30
02-04 Infiniti I35
02-07 Altima
00-08 Nissan Sentra

.....and I might have duplication or forgot some but I was scribbling rather fast as I was being told all this cross-compatibility

Are you dead set on Hawks? Doesn't Porterfield do custom pads if you provide the backing plates?
I've heard nothing but good things from them too, and I don't think it runs as much as this.

I am NOT dead set against Porterfield... they have the R4 pad available for $172.

I don't like the price is all.

and Carbotech will do custom if you provide backing plates but be ready to pay for the custom work.

I would like to pay LESS than $172 for 1 set of front race pads.. thanks..

If porterfield suddenly offered the R4 pads for $140, I would buy them and not push so hard for HAWK to enter the market...

EDIT: Just found out on other forum that Carbotech DOES make them for MORE than what HAWK would charge

http://www.ctbrakes.com/pads/nissan.html

$148 for XP10 compound (would be comparable to HT10 Hawk)

How about Cobalt? The spec B is a very good option to the Hawk Blue. Correction now called XR2. http://www.cobaltfriction.com/compounds/index.cfm?cid=2395
