Outside of minor weight and the ecu (which could be a big deal depending on goals) motor type and trim they are the same chassis.

I just got a '99 g20t and it's the RR set up. From what I've been reading though, once you start modding the RR's with VE parts they're better... I could be wrong on that last point (I'm pretty new to the whole SR20 scene)

Thank you for all your input. I'm still on the look out. Any one here have done an auto to manual swap on theirs?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I am 95% sure that all 99 G20's were standard lowport engines. 2000-2002 is when Nissan began using the roller rocker sr20 in the US. Can any g20-heads confirm or deny this?

Maybe the previous owner replaced the original engine with a RR replacement??

I could show ya if you like or look up the p11 wiki... I believe you'll find it if you look up g20. Or look at the pics on my new member post... it's def rr with no replacement. Got it from a dealership, 2 owners, all papers.

Also my tach is redlined at 6800. Further proof.

Wiki's as we all know, are not always 100% accurate. I am pretty sure that 99's are lowports: Do I have a Roller Rocker Motor???

they are referenced as 00+ on the g20 website. Hell, you might be right. Who knows. I guess we wait until someone more knowledgeable chimes in.

http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread.php?34163-Do-I-have-a-Roller-Rocker-Motor

Well I'll be damned. I've been thinking this whole time it was a roller rocker. MY BAD. Sorry for the misinformation. I think I got some bad info from the local so-called sr20 guru. I sure feel like a jackass. That's 2 things he was wrong about. The first was about limited slip. I'm soooo calling him out when I get to work tomorrow night lmfao! I'm gonna take a pic of my tach gauge tomorrow and post it though. I swear it looks like redline is 6800. Well, this changes things a little...

^^^ if that pic is of your engine, then yeah it's a lowport.

I THINK that 7100 or so is the redline for the 99. Not 100% sure though.

And yeah, the lowport actually gives you more options for cams if you plan to build/turbo the motor you have.

what was the mis-info regarding the limited slip?
