Thread: P10 Power steering pressure hose replacement: Tips, tricks, advice?

Yup, Sunday was decent too, I just had other things to address. Did the top come off easily? I have nothing but hand tools and @tomas527 has me concerned about ruining the hard line.

Actually yes, but a word of caution if you use say a wrench like I did when that nut breaks free, you're gonna bang your knuckles on the fender, and it hurts like 8 bitches on a bitch boat! Theres obviously no telling how tight yours might be, but just dont go in there like the Hulk lol, keep an eye on the hardline and just make sure you dont start bending it.

Yeah as others have said 100% it's a 24 mm bolt. I had to replace the pump on one of my p10s and the pressure line on the other. It's entirely do'able with hand tools. You can get to it from the bottom of the car, easiest way to go. The top bolt is tougher to get loose. I had to soak it in some penetrating oil and use a breaker bar carefully. The mount/hardline that it goes on likes to bend before that bolt comes loose. iirc the second time I just used a electric impact gun and it came off without an issue.

I just talked to the garage. My man heard "Inifiniti" and his cash register lit up like the 4th of July. They said 2, maybe 3 hours to put the new hose on which equates to $150-$200 in labor. Um, no. Thanks....

Thank you Sir, I appreciate that and may take you up on it. The forecast is looking decent for the weekend so at minimum I'm going to pull the passenger front wheel/slash shield and see if I can eyeball what's going on at the pump. Based on the minor seepage/dripping and lack of power steering fluid spraying all over the engine compartment I have a feeling that it may be the low pressure line. This would be the best case scenario, but I am prepared if it is the high pressure line.

Yep I saw high 40's almost 50 by Monday. Melt some of this snow at least.

Well I finally put the damn hose in today and it wasn't such a bad job. Put her up on ramps, used a 24mm 1/2" socket with a 10" extension. Up top I used a big pair of vicegrips to steady the hardline and put a breaker bar on the ratchet, piece of cake. I think the hardest part was holding the bolt and two cooper washers and trying to thread it into the pump, while reaching up with only one are. I cursed, got out and went back under a few times until I got it. Now I wait to see if she leaks.
