00-02 P11 G20 Autos too slow?
I heard rumors of how slow these cars are, but yesterday when I was trying to get on the interestate from the ramp, I really got to experience this first hand. I need to figure out if I can get this thing a little fast and still keep it fairly quite (reason I purchased it). I've had my P11 for about a month, and it's been pretty good so far. I have some things I need to address on it, but it drives decent as is, but will be better once I take care of a few things.

Now I'm not here to bring up a 5speed vs Auto debate, I have two B13 SE-R projects, so I'm not interested in my P11 being a 5 speed at all. I know the curb weight is around 3,000 pounds with only 145bhp from the roller rocker, so that power to weight ratio does not help with the long gearing of the P11 trans. I floored this thing and it barely got out of it's on way, is the pre cat on the header really choking this motor that much? If I didn't know any better, I would think the SR20 was one of the slowest engines of all time .

Input?

I'm interested in this as well. I needs a extra push but i don't want to compromise the MPG or Life of the tranny

NOS! lol

edit: imho even the manual p11 are slow. header, exhaust, cam and intake won't do that much either.

5 speed makes a night and day difference. 00+ 5 speed trans have short 1-3rd gears, like b15 trans. Auto trans just sucks that horribly, 0-60 is like 11 seconds, while the 5 speed one is like 9 seconds.

Keep in mind auto trans will have issues when you push more power too, I believe they don't like anything above 140wtq, don't quote me on that though!

Correction even VE swap wont make it all that much better.

When was the last time you actually drove an auto P11? When I bought my first 5 speed p11, week after I wrecked the auto p11, it was a night and day difference, granted occupant weight does have a lot to do with it too.

What year p11 did you get?

99 p11 has the smallest cam so 91 intake cam and SSAC header will make a nice improvement.

the RR auto is retarded slow compared to the 99 because of the extra cat on the exhaust so changing up the exhaust will help tremendously
