That's another cool thing about these cars. They are worth painting and repairing. If it's the one that was $1275, that lady seemed pretty desperate to unload it. I spoke with her twice but never went and saw the car. This was about 2 days ago so she should be ripe for the picking.

Definately source an ashtray surround. It's awesome. It is removable and the ashtray lights up.

It's the only thing I might change so far. For a small car, it turns like a Lincoln.

Thanks, I'll look at that ashtray or quit smoking, I mean look that up.

I've got a pretty nice Nakamichi HU but I think it makes sense to look stock and especially in south florida, aka, the crime capitol of the universe. I'm rethinking my sub. Don't want to be bumpin' and being followed everywhere I go.

That's a shame too, I have really nice audio gear and have everything I need including the dynamat and sealers for the doors. Active xovers, drivers, eq and amps with no place to go but in storage. The thieves here are merciless so if I do an major audio upgrade an alarm system must go in first.

Fact is, even the Bose is better than the stock e39 system, so I upgraded over that. On my G20 the tweets are in the A-pillars, I've seen some G20's on the door and I prefer the tweets in the pillars.

Looks like 6.5" is as large as you could really go on the door drivers and there is really no way to cut the doors even if I wanted. All that, if any, is down the road.

I burned 1/2 tank yesterday. The only place I didn't take it was muddin'.

Gas mileage is great, wow, and it dawned on me at one point, that maybe it's a Japanese BMW that looks like a Saab.

There were a couple of times I parked next to $30,000 cars and I had to smile a little that mine looked almost as good and I paid 1/10th what they did and also that mine would likely be running when they were on the phone with AAA. I felt smart.

The more I'm in it, the better I like it, but I'm still not with "one with the car". I can feel that day is coming though as I find my mind wandering off when driving and this may turn out to be the smartest car I've ever owned.

The only thing that I can find wrong is the windshield wipers won't squirt water. The light was on indicating the water level was low so I filled it, the light went off but didn't squirt and after I tried for a while the light came back on. At least the wiper pivot bushings are not squealing... yet and the blades seem fine for now.

I also looked at the cost of a MAF as I'll likely be replacing one or two someday(s), ordered those tweeters off fleabay, shopped for tinting and someone to clay bar and polish the car. Once I get those things done and I'll have a little nicer ride.

I'm rethinking that audio now. There is enough low end bump to shake the rear view mirror and while it won't hit 20hz or win any SPL competitions, it's already installed in the car which is a bump on it's own. CD's sounds 100% better than radio so I'm thinking now, maybe if I seal those front doors, update the drivers in the front stage I can put in an EQ and get better SQ and not have to cut and drill on the car.

I don't hate it going into day 2 and my dog looks great in the seat. I don't look like I'm trying too hard to impress everybody or genital challenged, but look like I have a job. A smart car financially, but I have treated myself to some of the finer things in life because I feel I'm worth it.

I still don't know where this car fits in my personal experiences with cars. When you drive a BMW 5 series you feel connected to the the road, it's really a drivers car, smooth and you enjoy driving it because you feel 100% connected and in control. It's like sex and your on top. If you like to drive, get one.

When you drive an E320 Mercedes you are being driven, and never feel connected to the road as the car floats you down the road. If you'd prefer to be chauffeured or on bottom, buy a 320.

I can't really say yet where this g20 falls or if it's a category on its own. It seems at times both. Nimble enough to dodge the Haitian drivers in Miami, but also a comfortable <55 mpg cruiser.

In any case, it's all about the gas mileage stupid, and what car can deliver all this goodness at 30 mpg and under <$5,000 AND be reliable?

None, that I have found and maybe the best thing today is that I'm not shopping for cars.

I actually think the G20 is somewhat in the middle of a small mercedes & a bmw.... Handles pretty decent, more connected to the road than a mercedes...For some reason every mercedes I have driven, which is a whole bunch, if it isn't a amg, it kinda feels like you are towing a boat all the time. Not quite up to bmw ride quality with an engine that is about the same as a 318 I guess... Anyway enjoy the car and enjoy not having to pay an arm and a leg to just keep it running, lol. I have worked at an imported car repair shop since 2003, I know how bad most cars are.

The G20 was designed, engineered, and tested on the nurburgring in europe to be built as a drivers car. It was Nissans attempt to sell better in Europe starting with the 1st gen Primera p10. Only thing they cut some costs and used the rear beam suspension that came on the other cheaper nissans of the same period. There are a few things about the interior that im not a fan of like the bolstering on the leather seats and the center console. Only thing about the 00-02 g20's is the idle air control cant be adjusted manually, and has to be done using the consult II at the dealership.

I just ran it up the highway 60 miles and hope I just need tires. Wheel shake over 60.

I remember the day I bought my last BMW. Had my dog on a test drive doing 90 and the dog was snoring. That was reason enough to go back and cut the check.

She is at the beauty parlor right now getting buffed and waxed. Nothing about Florida sun is good for paint. My factory paint is very good and semi-shiny but should be better in an hour or two.

I don't know what is likely to go out on an 01 and when. If you said you had a BMW, I have a long list of crap that's likely to leave you stranded any minute.

I like the steering and suspension pretty well on the g20, near zero body roll even on the non T. I bet it's fun in the twistys, but those are rarer than 18 year old virgins in Miami.

Most of florida is long straight very good and wide roads and 45 mph limits even it town. A good fit for this type of car I think but the verdict is still out for over 60 mph club. I think I need new tires.
