Thread: Weird idle after Thermal Block Spacer Install

The idle should be ~800 rpm. When I first start my car in the morning it will idle at ~1000 rpm for a couple of minutes and then settle back down to ~850 rpm once it warms up a little.

i guess the start up idle is different on mine then..because when i start mine up it idles at 1500 and when its warmed up it drops to 800

you let something disconnected.. on the intakemanifold.. good luck finding it ..

I had the same problem steve...and still having a problem with the stupid install. I installed the thermo spacers sometime in august. I only did the plenum spacer and throttle body spacer. The lower intake to head spacer was to much work so I skipped that.

After the install it idle around 1200-1600 rpm's. The lowest it will go was 1100 rpms. I had to drive it like that for a while cause of work and stuff. So I said fukc it and took it all apart, removed the thermo spacer and bought a new oem plenum gasket and thought that i fixed the high idle. After the install even with the new oem plenum gasket it still idle'd high at 1100 rpms.

Since then I've been driving it like that....after a few months the idle has gone down to 500-600 rpms. It's been like that till this day. Just this past wednesday night leaving work on cold night driving to a car meet I got the high idle problem around 1100rpms. But when it idles around 500-600 rpms it feels like it wants to die on me/shut down.

I dont even know whats wrong with it. But after the track event later this month and during christmas time I will take it all apart, replace the vacuum lines with new ones, replace with new hose clamps and hopefully fix the god damn problem.

wow sounds like you are having a good amount of problems..my idle went down as well to around 800 but what ive noticed is when i put gas it shuts off on the the 1st start up and after that its runs fine. idk what it is..

It's a either a leaky line or a vacuum leak between the gaskets.

I have a full set on my DET, on stock 99 ECU idle when warm 750-800, on Calum RT ecu with DET program Idle 750-800.

Since I bought a used set of ThermoBlok Spacers (before I got around to making the group buy), I had no paper gaskets so I used liquid gaskets.





So far it's been fine and boosting at 9 psi.

Hell yeah. Have you messed around with the idle screw? did you use a torque wrench to torque the nuts on the manifold studs.



it has to be either one or both. So I can use the red rtv gasket/sealent on a oem plenum gasket? did nissan put rtv when they assembled it? I have to give this a shot...and hope it works.

i dont have an idle screw, i have a RR

and the idle seems to be getting better but i havent had time to check for leaks, im gonna do that today.
