T28 or GT28R
I'm going to makes this short and simple:

T28:

-I currently own one and I made 325WHP 305TQ @ 16psi.

-This turbo has been rebuild already and it cannot take another rebuild since fixing the real issue would be just as much as buying a new one.

-I know the T28 spools at higher RPMS than the GT28R but the T28 makes more power after all.

-I like the T28 because I know in the future I can rebuild this turbo in case I blow the seals or if I decide to sell it the new owner can always rebuild it.

-Prince range between both are nearly the same.

Someone convince me and explain me why I should buy the GT28R over the T28

I wouldn't buy a GT28R at all man, you don't need faster spool on a turbo that small!

as far as the gt28r i think spool times increasing is a big +

im personally running the gt2871r .86ar 60trim which garrett rates as 475hp which is like 430whp. also the gt2871r has a optional t3 frame

also personally i would rather have a turbo that spools quicker that makes slightly less hp than a turbo that makes more hp but spools later in the rpm. faster spools will obviously effect ETs and 0-60s...so i tihnk the spool aspect to hp aspect differences if probably a big one that will effect the buying decision.

whats more important to you, spool or whp? do you know what the differences in max power between the 28r to t28?

Get the disco potato.

There is a local guy down here with a disco running 11.3-11.4 @ 120+ mph.

I'm more interested in a turbo that can create more power. Faster spool is nice (good ol T25) but I've learn that faster spool just create more traction issues (street wise) and honeslty I have enough traction issues with my T28.

I know the difference between the GT28R and T28 ain't that big but for the same price it creates a question before you want to buy one.

Pretty much my debate is this:

Faster spool, less power.

Slower spool more power.

Other turbos are out of the question. I refuse to do any more fab work or upgrades. Unless there is another turbo that can bolt into the GTIR manifold that I can use my water/oil lines, water drain, etc.

I have to agree with Manny on this, go for the GT28RS. That turbo hands down is bad ass. If your gonna upgrade, make it worth while. Its like upgrading from girls to women, there experience change.

I only got $800 to spent on a turbo and that is a do it or never will kinda deal.

well you have basicly said what you want more power.

reguardless of what spool times the gt28r make it is always going to make less power than the t28

Well the car is not running right now cause of the bad turbo. Next year I'm gonna start saving for a house and a $1200 for a turbo will be out of the question. Plus I'm happy with the results of the T28.
