advice on build
Alright here's the deal, I've got a 96' ser with a u13 swap in it. I just got a dui and will lose my license for a year...sucks i know. So over the next year this thing is gonna get built...well actually I have a spare DE motor so I'm planning on building it. It has a spun bearing in it. My question is, would it be better to just have it sleeved or should I bore it over? Would like a little dependability still. What Compression ratio should i shoot for as well? should I just stick with 9.5:1 or go with something lower like 8.5:1? I've heard that 9.5:1 is a little harder to tune but still not too bad. Horsepower goal will be around 500. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

nthing is realy hard to tune if you have the right EMS. not even 10:1

compression ratios will limit the ammount of boost you will be able to run because of safety factors 10:1 being aout the highest, 9:5:1 being middle man and 8:5:1 being perfect.

boring isnt really needed unless you are going to go over 86.5 which i dont think is needed.

as far as you goal 500 i dont feel will be obtainable safely with 10:1 compression. since you goal is semi higher than normal goals, 8:5:1 to 8:8:1 would be perfect. also take into comsideration that compression ratios effexct spool time, obviously the lower the compression the more ''lag'' you will feel, the higher the compression ratios the less spool ''lag'' but less boost pressures you can run.

so you turbo should be chosen to help equal out the compression ratio dont wanna get a HUGE turbo and LOW compression ratio you wont have any kind power band

so lets say i run 8.5:1 with a gt30, should be a pretty nice set up. Just a little laggy. Possible to run this on a realtime ecu or do I need to run stand alone?

well stand alone gives you grest control over all aspects of your ecu, not just a fuel managment system. its really up to the person at hand weather or not they think they need the ability to control pretty much every aspest of their motor. whih is always a nice thing.

as far as the gt30 with the 8:5:1 compression it really depends on the AR you choose, also depends on if you go with cmshafts that make great lower end to mid range power that will make up for the lower compression and larger turbo... its all about piecing everythnig together to get it to work correctly, or to make one part work better with another.

what kinda budget do you have for this build?

haha budget, hell idk. balls to the wall is what i'd like to say, It's gonna take some time to build it but honestly not worried about the price i'll get things piece by piece. The GT3076R would be very nice, but i'll see what happens to fall into my hands. I'd like to run the bluebird in the car for now with the t25 as a daily driver and just work on the other motor until it's completely built to my satisfaction=never done But for now i'll focus on the bottom end, prob go with eagle rods and cp pistons ftw. Any other suggestions...

i think the gt3076r is a good choice but it all depends on the camshafts,psi level shooting for,rev limit,compression ratio, if it all goes together with the gt3076r

worth the money? I've heard good things about cp pistons, not so much about JE except on american cars.

well for one i think it has the possiblility to be worth it if you dont really have the means to find the parts individually cheaper. but if not then buying a complete kit is best bet.

as for the sizes of pistons i wouldnt go larger than 86.5 as you will need to have it resleeved if any larger, which honesltly even tho im running 86.5 i dont feel that the .50 makes the motor any larger in size....now 87 would but the whole resleeving and all that idont feel is worth it for the ammount of power gain.

off of the stock block they can hold 400+whp so to build a motor with all forged parts i would be intending on running at least 550-600whp
