Well this is going to be a very slow build, one step at a time basically. I probably will sleeve the block and go with the 87mm, I really want to know more about the VE head, what are the benefits of it, higher revs? bigger ports? Have no clue about the VE. Motor is planned for 500-550hp, but I'd like to build it for more than that to be safe, actually build it for a lot more power because I know i'll want that much more out of it (not that i'd ever get used to that much power). haha.

Anyways I'll be buying parts about $500 at a time most likely, and doing work in the same way (sleeves, head, etc.) I'll keep updates on here. I need to tear the other block apart and see exactly what i'm getting myself into. Hopefully it's not too bad. Build will start soon as this damn dui is paid for

VE flows better then a DE stock. Manny and Lance both made close or over 500hp with a stock head and sr20ve cams only reving to 7k. You can just do S&R in a VE head and rev it out because I know Manny's car was making a nice power band all the way to 7k and would have keeped going. I would just do the VE head with a sight P&P and sr20ve cams, S&Rs and cam gears and you have a head that will flow what you want.

What do you plan to use to tune the car?

not sure about tuning yet, have a b14 with a bluebird already in it, but i'll be building the de motor that i have laying on the floor begging me to save her. That much power I would want to definitely go stand alone. aem ems if i come into a fortune somehow...haha. I don't know i'll read up on them some more, tons of them right? I'll worry about that when I get there, hell i don't even have a shell to put it in yet. Unless I just swap motors on race weekend, but I won't have the suspension set up and all that I want that way, I'll probably just find a b13 shell, and keep the b14 with the sleeper look on the road.

having a motor that needs multiple aspects of its components monitored or adjusted is definitly where a Stand Alone comes in. they are much more than a fuel managmeent system but a engine mangement system. you will definitly need some kind of stand alone, but you can do it without

what would you recommend the set up to be w/o standalone? cobra maf, 1000cc, safcII, datascan, emanage possibly?

yea something along those lines. it is possible to do it without stand alone thats for sure.

but when you make alot of power you are going to want to monitor and fine tune every aspect of your motor.

Well the datascan would help monitor most of it, safc would do the fuel thing, and an assload of guages will do the rest, haha.I guess a calum realtime with a bin for cobra maf and the big injectors would do the trick just fine. How much power are you calum real time guys running?

true...but stand alone managment are much more superior than fuel piggy backs and data readers with gauges.

AEM is a widely used stand alone, and i feel it has alot of features the higher end stand alones have but i feel its almost unheard of to use the really high end stand alones as the aem ems does pretty much all of the things the other high end ones do

500hp for what? Roll races on the freeway?
You do know if done right this build if done right will cost you about at least $5000 right? Just seems like too much power because you can't put it to the ground.
