Because obviously taking it off free's up some ponies and we all like ponies !

That is why it is best to route it over to a place that has a draw or air current ie the intake pipe. To help suck that blow by out through the little hoses. rather that running into the problems like the mustang had.

Where would a guy find a big ol' check valve like that? a diesel truck brake check valve?

so it's the consensus that this is the best setup?

I am planning on completely eliminating the stock catch can, is it essential to run a line back down to the block, or is it even necessary as long as the catch can doesn't overflow?

you dont have to just dont let it over flow and watch your oil level in the motor too. for the big valve there might be a big pcv valve at autozone, although i really dont know you need it

I would say YES. It is essential that you run a line from the valvecover back to the crankcase. I eliminated the stock catch can and run just the line directly connected. The main reason being that oil can and will back up the crankcase pipe and into your engine bay. This exact scenario happened to me a few weeks ago, when the line had come off the crankcase tube.

If you are going to run this, I don't think you need a check valve, as the place is always under vacuum, never under boost. So us blow thru guys are stuck with getting unmetered air from there I guess? I wouldn't mind running a check valve then running it passed the MAF, but once that valve gums up, you're kinda SOL and are going to pressurize the crankcase...

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Yeah, us blow-thru guys are stuck with getting some unmetered air, but it isn't going to be much and it should be easy enough to monitor it thru your wideband o2...

ok cool got it. thank you.
