Thread: best place to buy a Synapse Synchronic wastegate

I don't think it because there is no love for the Synapse. I for one have heard nothing but good about Synapse. It is said their BOV's are great.

I would say its all in preference.

yeah i like the jgs design as well as it is also billet and o ring / piston style. This is the type of gate i want. plus the black rocks, very stealthy for when cops open my bonnet. i will be running an ebc anyway so the port matching on the synapse is no big deal to me.

also do the the fact piston gates control boost creep better due to higher lift i will most likely go a 40mm in the end. i dont really need the 50mm, was thinking of going overkill since its going to be around $50 in shipping

so the question is does the 40mm jgs now run o ring? i know they didn't once upon a time, but do they now? if so where is the best place to buy? otherwise the 40mm synapse will be a serious option

i had a bad experience with synapse products (his famous missinglink never works in my last project, a 420a turbo eclipse and they never responded the mails that i sent.

they have a missing link map sensor check valve. it blocks boost from hitting the map sensor.

^^^ i dont either, especially since bigger intercoolers and cooler piping just creates lag on a small displacement engine. I am going for a lot more than 300hp, but still keeping cooler piping and cooler thinness reasonably small. Have got a tube and fin though

The 40mm JGS gate is a new design but I am not sure if it has the silicone o-ring piston actuator. I can ask for you though... FYI, the 50mm gate can be used with a Tial 44mm v-band flange.

ok i had a quick read through and agree with most, but i still believe a large cooler and piping will add more lag, sometimes it is needed but some times it just isnt. Some times it will be minimal and sometime more noticeable depending on the set up

if you have 3 1/2 inch piping 140mm+ intercooler and large plenum, it will be noticeably lagier than a well set up cooler design. the size isnt the only problem either, bends and added lengths are a problem too.

my rule of thumb is on the cold side make the cooler piping the same size as the throttle body and on the hot side run it smaller. run as direct as possible and with minimal bends

Backing up to the origin of topic, Synapse has a quality product (wastegate and BOV wise). I have correctly configured my Synapse BOV, and it's quiet as all get out. I absolutely love that even at 15psi of pressure, when the BOV opens, you barely hear it in the cabin.

I have been told by my friends at the shop here, that the wastegate they manufacture is the tits, as it has the adjustable boost control built into the top hat. They're running it on most of their customer's cars, and everyone seems to really love it. I just asked for the TiAL because it's pretty in Red
