Repairing the Turbo Beast! UPDATED W/MORE PICS
Well ive been taking my time with repairing the car, this is my daily driver so i cant waste too much time. Just pulled the motor and tranny and spent the last 3 hours cleaning the crap out of the tranny with a drill with a wire brush. Went and pressure washed it. My passenger side boot got a small cut which sprayed greese everywhere all over the side and top of tranny. The front was just plain dirty from the very beginning because i never cleaned it. Well it looks a hell of a lot better than before. Got a nice polished look to it. haha. I will be cleaning up the bay and then repainting the bay white with a couple coats of clear to get things looking really good inside the bay. Gonna scrub the crap out of the subframe and lower A arms and other parts that have been all dirty. Time to get it looking really good for the Convention coming up. Ill post more pics of the progress. Probably work on that this week maybe tommorrow. My turbo S15 turbo will hopefully be here this week.

I have a spare motor that is my buddies but he is not going to use it so im gonna take it and throw it in there but with the bigger and better turbo and then i will semi build a spare motor from the good block i have and then the crank, rods, CP pistons, Cosworth headgasket, all new bearings that i have just to have as a built spare, haha, that way i dont have to wait if something does happen to this motor. I dont plan on it this time but with the amount of power i want to push its very possible something could so better safe than sorry.

Here are some pics:

Well been really busy at work, i was hoping to get this done last weekend but didnt get a chance to but it allowed me to take my time with things and do what i wanted with the setup.

Here is some pics of the engine bay and motor setup going in, What you dont see is the 520cc injectors which will be on in a couple weeks and the nitrous wet kit setup. More pics to come.

Man I need to do that to mine. It's a friggin mess... did you change any seals on the trans? I think I'm going to swap out the shifter seals, but IDK how tough it is. I already did the axle seals, since it's out on the ground. I'm just a little leery of putting high pressure to the trans and ending up with water inside. looks nice tho!

yeah, the seals are already new from when i put the trans in 6 months ago, there are no leaks on this tranny at all. i just had all that greese from the axle and just dirt and stuff that was on it from when i bought it. oily stuff from the previous motor it was attached to in the yard. i stuffed a crapload of bubblewrap in there before pressure washing it, it really didnt do much just got some of the greese off but it was def the wire brush that made the difference.

Yeah your build is coming along nicely, im hoping for around an 11.0 @ around 123mph with the S15 dual bb turbo set to 20psi on race gas on a 9.5:1 motor with S4 cams and a crapload of other stuff. I see your going with a ton of nice stuff on yours. i think you will be really happy with the DP turbo man. Great setup. I just gotta still find my 520cc injectors. haha or a cheaper set of 740's i have both programs. haha so it doesnt matter to me. just waiting it out to find the best deal on them. Good luck with your build hope to see it on the road soon.

yeah, i'm stoked to drive it again, hopefully just a month til i can start tuning it. waiting on odds and ends that i decided to get to freshen things up, some gaskets and whatnot.

talk to keo on the injectors, i think he said a friend of his was selling some 520's, but that was a while back.

here is a little update, i had to work pretty much the whole weekend but its all good. Plenty of OT. I repainted the bay on Sunday using some Dupont import auto spray paint, Color was Super White, i cant remember off the top of my head what color the white se-r's are, but the paint matches pretty dang close. It turned out really good, sorry for the small pic but its from my phone, once i get my computer back up i will post the pics from my other camera.

All i got left to do is finish swapping over some stuff to the new block such as the oil and coolant lines and some misc hoses. Then drill the block, pound the drain tube in and seal it. Then put the turbo on and put the clutch, flywheel, and tranny on. Throw it in and button everything up.

what turbo/mani setup is that? I've never seen one with the hot and cold sides reversed on an sr20, seems like it would complicate plumbing. Looks nice though, keep us posted!
