yeah its a rwd tubular manifold and an S15 dual ball bearing T28, Greddy 3" turbo outlet pipe, Its really not too bad, i have an intake made to where it sits down at the bottom of the bay next to the fender well so nice cold air always enters, the rest of the plumbing is basicly the same, The exhaust just dumps where it ends at the outlet pipe. 3" open FTW, sounds really good to me and its really not too loud

again only thing is that the outlet pipe sits really close to the radiator not allowing a radiator fan on the inside of the bay, i have one fan sitting on the outside due to the fact i didnt want my new flexalite fan to get melted from the exhaust, my stock fan i had there the housing around the blades melted slightly, it didnt affect it at all but i just didnt want to risk it so i put it on the other side as a pusher. One 1200cfm fan works just fine even in the 120 deg summer we just had. No overheating problems at all.

Ashton did you try running the Tubro the other way? Did the compressor housing hit the block or something making you have to run it the other way?

Ive been looking at one of those manifolds and apparently the cracking issues have been taken care of as Ive heard of people running these for a year or more with no cracks. But if the comp housing hits the block then Id be right back in the same boat as with the stock Avenir Manifold and there would be no point in buying the manny.

I actually though about running my turbo the RWD way also. It would also help with Alternator longevity. But I want a quiet car and I also didnt feel like fabing up the ex piping since it would be really heavy if I had to run it back to the stock points for my resonator. I also though about running a resonator strait to the side of the car. But I value my engine bay space! Give me some Ideas foo

Why not just use a gtir manifold? Or at least modify that rwd one so you can mount the turbo the right way.

My turbo fits on the Avenir manifold. But I had to grind the block. Putting a GTi-R manifold on wouldnt even be an upgrade.

The real question is...can the turbo be mounted the correct way without it hitting the block???

Ask Brent (coach). The previous owner of his car used the RWD manifold for an avenir t25. I'm pretty sure there was grinding involved.

You know they make cheap manifolds for the GTIR right? They spring up a few cheap ones made by the 2fast2cool guy. They spring up every now and again. I'm being serious.

yeah there would have definetly been grinding involved, i dont mind it being a little louder, during cruise its pretty mellow, under wot it sounds hellish like your gonna get your a** handed to you hellish, haha, nothing but turbo spool can be heard at idle and partial throttle, and of course my nice lopey idle from the s4's sounds awesome open downpipe. haha I like it setup the way it is, plus i got everything for free for doing work for a rwd sr buddy. So hey the little work involved was well worth it.

I got the engine in the car, the pans are drying from getting all the shavings out, all i got left is to throw the crossmember up, put my intake on, add the oil and coolant, pour some oil in the cylinders with the spark plugs removed, crank it over for 15 seconds or so and then button everything up and it should fire right up no problem. I will keep you guys posted tommorrow when i finish and ill take pics when the car is all cleaned up and finished.
