Don't that really apply to order cars? didn't the EPA mandated that all car made after 1990 needs to handle a fare amount of ethanol? there's an article somewhere about it, I'll find it.

that was covered on this forum in the past to, but yeah, it is new to this thread. The steel breakdown can't be much, as in, the car would be in the junk pile before the steel corroded or broke down due to the ethanol.

I know a few people in FL that are tuning with E85 and they say everything is working fine. One of the cars is a actually a big shot nitrous car and the other a high 10 second stock turbo Evo.

It actually not hard at all to find E85 in South FL. I wish I could say the same for OH.

IIRC 10% ethanol in the gas tank brings the octane level up 3 points so 85% would have a huge octane rating such as race fuel does. No wonder it likes timing.

E85 is 100-105 (R+M)/2 octane. A couple of points lower than typical unleaded race gas (110), or leaded (116) but still much better than "premium" at 91 or 93 depending on area in the US. Not sure how many people this is news to, but it's at least one person.

My personal experience with E85 has been great. Made a ton of power and was able to run leaner, and more advanced safely. It's not only chemically resistant to detonation, it cools the intake charge much better than gasoline. E85 is so much better than gasoline it's hard to not run it. The only unknown is how long the rubber/steel would last in any given car not specifically designed for it. I'm not trying to stop anyone from using it, I'd just like them to be informed.

ok in regards to the corrosive statements

now as far as i know, the thing that makes e85 corrosive is the fact that it can absorb water. so for example if you never drive your car and let it sit with the same fuel for weeks to months at a time....well it will rust! but if you replace the fuel every fortnight to a week, then the e85 will not have time to absorb enough water to become a problem. if you have some fuel sitting in you tank for longer than 2-3 weeks empty it ande start new with fresh stuff.

also e85 is 105 octane, but will behave much more like 110 petroleum based fuel

also in regard to rubber, i am pretty sure (not 100% though) that rubber made after 2000 and some after 1990 is compatible. it's something in the make up of old rubber that burns and splits. therefore any new aftermarket injectors should run compatible rubber

i wouldn't run a carby on this stuff, efi only imo

Why aren't you running 4 bar fuel pressure ca18? You can get alot more power out of your injectors...

so then can someone give me a definitive answer as to if we can use E85 with those of us using a JWT computer?

i already run c16 without advancing the timing. and since its 105... im hoping i wouldnt have to get a retune if i wanna run E85
