dang, i would have never thought that that was your issue! too much boost lol. What gap are you running? I run .029" on mine all the way up to 26psi and no spark blowout yet. on .032 I blow it out around 24psi.

Also, how much timing are you running under boost on 14-15psi???

I'm running .029" to .030" plug gap, on BRK7E's.

Timing in WOT is pretty conservative, around 15~20 degrees.

how do you tune for timing tekkie? I've just tried to stay with the stock settings, but IDK if that'll fly with this new setup, but I haven't ever messed with it much.

It was actually just a guessing game for the tuner. He didn't look at any maptraces or anything, he just decided to bump timing on certain parts of the map, I guess a psuedo smoothing factor. Took him all of 3 minutes to modify the entire timing map, and we just uploaded it into the car and took it for a spin.

I'm in the process of trying to better understand how the maptrace correlates to the actual fuel/timing map, so that I better understand what adjustments need to be made.

When you look at the maps in the BIN file for your ECU, they're really simple to understand. Just look at the Max TP column, at a given RPM, and there's your target timing value, and target AFR on the fuel map. Given you know what the targets are, you can do a WOT pull, see where your AFR's REALLY are, and then make adjustments to timing to acheive target AFR on the fuel map. You can obviously acheive the same results by adding or pulling fuel on the fuel map.

Hope I got this right, that's how I understand it, anyway.

Doesn't sound right to me. Adjusting timing to reach a desired AFR is not the way to go about things. Changing timing does change the observed AFR readings but only by small amounts and it doesn't change the actual AFR.

I gotcha.

I guess what I was thinking was that if you're in say 11.2 AFR at a certain RPM, that you could throw a little more timing at it, and judge any gains on a dyno?

I need to eat breakfast, I'm getting more confused just thinking, in general. I'm starving!

It sounds like you're describing a tactic of enriching the ARF on purpose or finding rich spots by accident and using that opportunity of rich = safe to try some extra timing. If the extra timing gives more power then keep the timing change, if no gain then back the timing off again.

This is a very, very odd tactic and not one I would recommend or even know if it would work very well at all. There's no need to worry about fuel or AFRs when tuning timing. All you should be worried about is power/torque output, the knock threshold and to some extent EGTs.
