If there is no backfiring I think you are in the clear. The cams (with the bad mic) explain a lot of the noise/tone of the revs. Just keep an ear out for backfiring when you are out and about during acceleration/cruising.

No backfiring while cruising or during acceleration. It only happens on decel. Just REALLY loud because of the exhaust leak, I think. I'm putting the car on jackstands again today to fix the exhaust leak, and hopefully get the oil feed line fitting tighter so it's not leaking any oil on my driveway. I'll drive it around a bit after I fix the exhaust leak and see if it's still really loud or not. Strange like I previously mentioned, because I never really had the backfire on decel issue with the last setup, although the injectors were a lot smaller. Still had 3" exhaust though.

I did forget to mention one thing, though. She doesn't start right off the bat. I have to hold the throttle down a little bit and then after up to about 5~8 seconds, she starts to fire and run. I have to keep the revs up for around 20 seconds before it will idle on it's own.

Woohoo! At least the exhaust sounds better I took the hangars off (they weren't doing anything), and torqued the bolts down from the cat to the downpipe even more, and it sounds entirely different, as it should. She still backfires on decel, but it's not nearly as loud, it's really muffled. Sounds pretty damn aggresive if you ask me.

If I hold the throttle around 4~5K, it kinda feels like it breaks up a tad bit, but I need to go back and double check the TPS sensor as well, so that may be contributing. Still sounds like there's small exhaust leaks around the o2 housing to the turbine and to the downpipe, so I need to get back under the car later on today and double check that they're as tight as can be.

personally with that poping i would rev the engine find out when its poping, then rev the engine at that rpm for xx seconds then shut the car off right away and read the plugs, and see what they say. that way you wont get a sark plug reading that is in your idle, you will et the reading at a certain rpm, that way you can see if its rich at xxxrpm

I reset the timing, and reset the idle RPM.

Then, I double checked plugs, and then plug wires.

After that, I was still backfiring on decel, so I dropped the injector latency to around .79ms, and whaddya know?! It's idling fine, still throwing stuff out the tailpipe (condensation with carbon), but it's not backfiring at all, and feels pretty powerful above 3k. I've come to the conclusion that the low power under 3K probably has to do with the cams.

So far so good, waiting to determine if there's a CEL anymore or not, so I can get the car inspected/registered.

what is your base timing set at? if it is your cams, you could possibly look into codifications with low end gains to pep up the lower rpms...lso whats the AR you are running that could have to do with lower end power loss
