Another question. When I look for a TPS at parts stores online, they all show the manual variant with only one connection. Am I missing something here? I've got two connections on mine...

the one and two connector ones work the same.

5 speed is one connector

auto use the two connector, the bottom sends a signal to the auto tranny

Thanks for clarifying! Much appreciated.

Next question, since I'm using the 95~97 ECU, would it matter that the TPS match? I noticed that the 98+ TPS has a different part number.

Yeah, like Dre was saying:

The bottom is for the TCM (Transmission control module). It only sends a .5vdc or 1vdc signal to the TCM, via the ECU. Basically to keep the ECU and TCM sync'd so that the autotragic tranny shifts properly.

I'm going to go get another TPS today just to see what happens. I may end up picking up another IM gasket while I'm out, since I haven't replaced it yet.

The 98-99 SERs come with 2. I am not sure what they use it for. If you have a JWT or Calum ECU 95-97 in your 98-99 you do not need to plug in the bottom plug,

Dre,

Thanks again for the information last night. I don't know if it was your phone or mine that kept cutting out. Looking forward to seeing your findings on the issue we discussed last night, regarding the ECU possibly being the problem, and not the TPS.

Now, when in idle, the TPS should show closed or open? I think the phone cut off right as you were trolling thru your memory banks.

As of last night, in NDS the TPS reports closed when the throttle plate is closed, and open when you open the throttle plate opens. I assumed that this was correct, but have never really played with any other cars so it could be wrong?

are you getting a rough idle? when you unplug the tps it effect the idle of the engine?

Yep, to an extent. I put a new TPS in right now, and bumped the base voltage to .5vdc, and the car idles around 1400rpm, give or take. Doesn't seem to be as boggy, but it's definitely still there. Rules out the TPS, for sure. Next is to take the TPS back and get an o2 sensor, just in case. I don't think it will make a difference, but I've been proven wrong before.

Just a thought...

I was reading over your thread on the other forum, and you mentioned that replacing your CTS seemed to have fixed your idle issue?

I see correct temps in NDS reported, when I do my logging. I don't really suspect the CTS to be faulty, but could it be possible?
