I think the VET cams are great, they could be better, but now I have no reversion. You can take out the overlap in the stock cams on the big lobes, but by doing so you create a situation on the small lobes. if you take out 10* overlap, then the small lobes will have 5* of crank rotation as the piston comes back down without the valve being open. This creates a small vacuum and increases pumping losses. On the high end it will scream, but the low end will inevitably suffer.

Hope I explained that well enough. The stock cams will still work great for tubular manifolds I think.

^^^yeah you did, i have been a little worried about that. but i am sure we will work out the best compromise on the dyno

also any pics of you manifold?

also how did you go at the dyno day?

on the stock cams 10psi I did 260whp on just the small lobes. That tune sucked really bad. I had it reflashed and the new program made maybe 20whp increase by sotp. I have not dynoed on this setup yet. But I will very soon

Dont get a 60-1 with a stage 3 wheel, thats the most mis matched moda foka ever. Go for the stage 5 in a .63 housing. Better yet have the .63 housing machined for a P trim T4 wheel.

yeah i am starting to lean away from the 60-1, i originally put it on the list as i thought the ve might need a lot of compressor, and thought if its not that much lagier than the 60 trim might be worthwhile. but i think you are right, will most likely need the stage 5 wheel to make it worthwhile.

after looking at the compressor maps of the 50trim and super h trim, these might actually be more suited. they seem to flow around the same level as the 3071 compressor but with less boost. and will probably have less lag too

it all depends on your power goals, i have a fully built motor with a gt2871r .86 ar on it, and i seen 300whp @ 10lbs.... and was seing full boost at 3600rpm, i feel that is excellent for .86ar.... the car is now at 17lbs and its just insane

i have also seen a few 240sx run over 430whp on the 86ar gt2871r's which youhave to understand these arent HUGE turbos, so for them to have the ability to flow over 400whp and have extremely fast spool.. unless you are building a track car...anythni near or ove 400whp is going to be somewhat of a waste unless you invest ALOT in traction control. and oter variables for running such high output thats just my thouht.

nah dont want the 2871r, although it is a nice turbo but in its a bit crap .86. but the .64 is a very nice street turbo one of the best. wanting a little more.

its going to be a street/track car and 10inch rims should help with traction

power goals are 450-500hp on your dyno's

ok after looking through the compressor maps i decided on a f1-57 .63 50 trim ceramic bb turbo.

i came to the conclusion that 60 trim really isnt worth it with the f1-57 wheel in fact i doubt it would give any gain just more lag. with the 50trim the rear and comp should be closed to maxed out at similar levels. much more balanced turbo

as response is an issue for me. so would prefer to keep the 57 rear. In someways i would rather underturbo than over turbo and have a lag monster

if i want more latter ill just throw this onto something else

also my mate who had a gt2871r installed on his s15 with all support modds, just bought my old t518z, to go onto virtually the same set up. if people are interested i can post his impressions of each turbo
