Boost and LightWeightFly
its a toss up in my eyes iv heard good and bad about lightweight flywheels and boosted cars, can i get some input for the guys who have or used to have lightweight flywheels

FYI my car is currently N/A and i want a bit more power before i boost her and it seems like a flywheel is the way to go, but when im boosted i dont want to get rid of the lightweight fly...

fidanza 8.8lb here, its awesome. the revs are so quickly, boost still builds just like any other flywheel. But the faster revs are the same. i mean go check out my vids and you can see for yourself. This is on a t25, t28 will be going on here soon. So yeah there is no disadvantage to it at all. whoever says its not worth it is an idiot. when you accelerate the engine is still under the same load that it would be with a stock flywheel. Take mass off the rotating assembly and you get more power and faster revs. plain and simple. my boost builds just like any other car except faster.

Lightweight flywheel FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Typical cons of a light weight flywheel apply. No more, no less. I never understood why the myth of flywheel + turbo = bad gets around so much. I have a Fidanza ready to go in, with turbo coming soon after that. I'm looking forward to it. =D

^I wondered about this as well. I remember I bumped a old thread on the sr20forum and got good responds. I did hear a couple of people in some other threads talking about the RPM's dropping off to fast making them loose boost. I'll be running one on my turbo build, can't wait.

you loose boost when you shift either way. the bov goes off and you loose boost plain and simple. it doesnt matter how fast the rpms fall if you shift fast enough when racing you will pretty much stay in boost. You cant beat the performance of a lightweight flywheel both N/A or Turbo. I will also be adding the lightweight underdrive crank and wp pulley to my setup later down to road to rev even quicker. Gonna be insane. haha. Its an investment well worth it, after driving an se-r with a stock flywheel and having my lightweight flywheel on both of the se-rs ive owned i would never go back, haha

I run a findaza flywheel and love it. Driven a few cars with a stock flywheel and boost and they were not as much fun to drive. I also like the fact that most aftermarket flywheels have replacable friction surfaces.
