First off, power is not really the right measurement for the limit of engine components. Torque is the better unit to consider.
The VE has higher compression, and I believe thinner rods, possibly also the piston rings are closer together? This all works against you for boost.
Most people consider ~450 ft·lbs as the limit on a stock DET, and ~400 ft·lbs for a DE+T, and then ~325 ft·lbs for the VE I think.
How much power you make with that is all down to how high you're willing to rev the engine.

Rods are the same ben, i cant recall ring spacing off hand, the ve should be good for as much as a de can take.

Thanks guys. I'm unsure of what torque the car puts down but will be sure to let the tuner know

You will blow the stock headgasket before maxing the bottom end, from what ive heard..

Or the head will lift if all else stays put, but ya usually the paper ass gaskets blow right out.
