A t28 mystery
Here's a bit of a stumper. VE+t t28. WG open pre turbo, perfect exhaust. Closed so exhaust goes down, white smoke out the tailpipe that smells sweet, typically b/w 1 and 3k rpm. coolant housing shot? no idea what causes this.

Blown turbo seals

White smoke and sweet smell I would say headgasket but I would do a block test to determine if it's blown or not

I don't think it has anything to do with the turbo.. check your spark plugs to see if any of them are kinda cleaner than others then it's prob a blown head gasket

Is this a stock untouched engine? How much boost u running?

I take that back, guess it maybe possible that the cartridge is cracked, possibly from someone not running enugh anti freeze in the winter time

Also check to see if your coolant return lines aren't kinked/plugged/restricted.

For what it's worth, my old black car came with a T25 that had the water lines blocked off. It ran fine until I tried adding water lines later on. It blew coolant, so I plugged the water lines back off and kept boosting the piss out of it. Ran like a champ!

I miss that car.

i do get the same thing sometimes, especially when my exhaust cut out is switched on. but usually it happens during the first 15-20 minutes starting the car, or in the morning....
