I understand where you're coming from, but it's going to be really difficult for me to sell my JWT ECU (at least for the amount I paid for it) and to switch to a Nismotronic. I'm hoping that once I get my Consult cable, I'll be able to get into Base Idle/Timing mode and tweak my idle settings. I'm pretty convinced that the issue I'm having is not associated with a vacuum or boost leak. It has to be something associated with the idle settings or with how the ECU is programmed to handle things at idle.

I'm hoping that I can set up a remote session with Jim Wolf Technologies so that they can tweak settings via logmein (or similar) and me having the cable plugged into my laptop.

Last I knew that's not how it works lol you have to send them the ecu for them to do anything to it.. do you at least have a wideband?

I've always believed the jwt tunes to be "blanket tunes" which yeah your car will run but when it comes to custom cars you should have your car actually tuned for your setup

No I don't have a wideband. I'll order one in very short order, because I definitely understand the value of owning one. I just need to decide on guage pod location in my car. I still need a boost gauge as well. I'm thinking of going the pillar pod route. I know that im working on this in the dark, but its also a very basic setup for which the "blanket tune" should be sufficient.

My goal, at the moment, is just to get it running stable enough to be able to drive it a long distance for a reputable shop to be able to work on it. There are none in Chicago (at least none that specialize in Nissan's this old).

Boost and no wideband? You are a crazy mofo. Far too many melted motors around here because no wideband.

Also, for jwt to retune it, you gonna pay $100 unless you can prove their fault. Between the cost of the ecu, jwt, and tuning you could have bought a basic for 1/4 of the cost with everything you need to reflashable yourself.

But that's the old way.

Nismotronic all the way. Does jwt offer 2 step? Can you run boost by gear? How about switching the s air metering to speed density? How about launch control rpm set by your gas pedal with the car off? Didn't think so either... this list can go on for miles. My recommendation is to bite the bullet and ditch jwt for nismotronic. It's far far superior in every imaginable way, trust us you won't regret it. That... and you will be making more power to boot just because it will be tuned for your car and not a generic rich tune with ultra conservative timing map. Also the coder/creators of the software and hardware design are available on this very forum... they will even remote tune your car

For shits and giggles though....

Get your consult cable and pull the tune and post it here for review. You can do this from nistune trial software. I doubt anyone will try to copy and apply it because basically most tuners here will get you a better bin for free.

Once you go nismotronic, a gauge that I recommend (and currently use) is the innovate ecb-1. Afr and boost in the same gauge as well as ethanol content and fuel temp. For those using maf, it's an ideal setup imo. For those on map.... it's an extra map sensor as there is no map output. Kit comes with all sensors and runs about 350 on amazon. Considering what it is as a total package, it's actually quite cheap.

Verified working on nemu v1 board and adc box, unverified on the new stuff.

At this point, I just want to get the damn thing running. This is the first swap I've ever done (with the help of a mechanic friend) and I'm not as focused on the performance and tuning aspect, as I am on just getting it to run and idle as a baseline. Once I have reassurance that I can get the idle to hold steady, I'll start building on that as finances allow.

I'll post the results of what I find out through the Consult port.

That's kind of the point. Nismotronic will help you track down and solve these sort of issues far more effectively.

I know it might sound dumb but have you tried changing the ecu for the stock one , will definitely cancel out if its the jwt ecu issues, what happens when the car gets up to temperature? , on the video looks like it just on start up but what happens when its all up on running temp?

JWT modifies the stock ECU with their program, so I don't have a stock one. There was a 98 200sx that came into the junkyard which probably hasn't been crushed yet, so I can probably snag the ECU off that if it's an SE-R. I don't think the stock ECU would work though... I have a different MAF and the stock ECU works on smaller injectors than I have.

I left the car running like that for a good 3-5 Minutes, and it still exhibits the same symptoms. I just cant quite possibly imagine where the vac leak may be, if there is in fact a vac leak.

Contact JWT.

benpila@jimwolftechnology.com

They will want interactions from your ECU via consult cable and some program. Different values from a few sensors on your car.
