External wastgate question
Bros, I've never used one of these things before. I have a Turbosmart 38 mm, with the 2 bolt flange. Question #1, is the flange where the "fire ring" sits on supposed to be flat, or does it have an indent in it where the ring sits? Question 2, do I need a special gasket for this thing. Question 3, I have an elbow on the top of it and also a hole where an elbow would screw in. Do I need to plug that hole? I'm assuming the elbow is for boost pressure. Thanks bros.

What you do with the vacuum/boost ports is up to you and your boost control goals.

I have never been able to figure out those gasket/fire-ring things...

If it's like the tail wastegate the ring fits into the bottom of the gate. Then bolt the gate to the flange. That side port needs to be hooked up for the wastegate spring to work.

Side question, does it matter how long my vacuum hoses for the wastegate setup are?

To a point...not really. But you want every line to be as short as it possible while still having enough room for it to not be a pain in the ass to disconnect and connect
