The vvl makes 205 at the flywheel

And the turbo motors make that at the wheels?

Here is some info on the det engines.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_SR20DET

the w11 you are looking at makes 227 at the crank on 9psi.

If you dont spend alot of money to upgrade the turbo system in the w11 set up, you can make the car faster with the vvl.

The 203ft/lbs vs the 152ft/lbs of torque has me leaning towards the det. This is going to be a daily driver. What type of budget am I going to need for a det swap?

I love all-motor stuff but a stockish VE in a kinda tubby p10t will not be quick and NA mods to get it there will make it an annoying DD (I know, I am getting old). I'd say round up some t28 stuff, bolt it to the motor that's already in the car, tune it on Nismotronic at somewhere between 8-12psi and enjoy. TQ is your friend for daily duty. If/when the stock motor pops buy another one for $200 and do it all over again.

The more crazy builds I'm involved with, the more I realize the simple builds are the most fun (99% of the time)

I totally agree with you. All motor is great...small displacement, all motor in a street car is annoying. I don't want to have to rev to 6K every where.

Problem with putting stuff on the stock motor, is the motor has 210K miles on it. I'm also positive I'd have to pay for a tune, because I'll never have the time to tune the car myself.

I'm reading some contradictory info. Can I, or can I not use the factory Avenir ECU? Do I need something like a JWT ECU?

It is possible to run the Avenir ECU in your car. When people do this they tend to use the engine harness that matches the engine and ECU. The major modification that needs to be done is to the plugs that would go into the interior of the car. It sounds much easier then it is.

Most people run the stock engine harness with some sort of tunable ECU. Their are a few available so you can pick what you like. We also like to take as many US sensors as possible and put them into the JDM engines.

ok, that must have been the part I was missing. I'd prefer to use as many factory parts as possible. Are there other options for pretuned daughter boards besides JWT?
