help installing a Nismo FPR
HEllo,,

so i feel like an idiot...

i have a Nismo FPR (not the universal one) that bolts directly to the rail.

i cant for the life of me figure out where to hook the pressure gauge so i know how much pressure the FPR is pushing out.

I thought i would connect the gauge inline like

FPR - Gauge - Rail

however being that this bolts to the rail, i have no way of doing that.

i would like to have the gauge permantly installed

also the guage i got from summit, says on the packaging "not for fuel injected carS" so i am not sure if my gauge would work...but i dont see how the gauge would care/kjnow between FI & a carb car.

thanks...

also i like pictures

[s]The pressure gets measured at the return, not the inlet, so you T it into the line coming off the fuel rail.[/s]

^Strike that! The gauge get's teed into the feed between the fuel filter and the rail, and the regulator is on the return side.

As far as the gauge goes, did you buy a low pressure one, meant for carburated cars? Assuming you're installing it in the engine bay, and not inside the car, you want a 0-100psi, 1 1/2" mechanical gauge, and you'll need an inline T-fitting as well.

Not sure on the size, and I know the last time I bought one it was a pain in the ass to find. Pretty much all the ones that are 'supposed' to fit, are just a bit to big, and fuel pressure hose it so stiff that you can't just jam it in there.

Maybe someone else can chime in with a good place to source the proper part from.

In the mean time, take a look at this thread.

So I'm curious... what gauge did you buy that's saying it's not for fuel injected cars?

5 16" 8mm Billet Aluminum Fuel Pressure Gauge Inline Barb Adapter with 1 8" Port | eBay

Use a TINY bit of Vaseline and push hose on.

Yup, there ya go. 5/16 is the proper size. Most of the ones you see are 3/8.

Here's another link I was just about to post before Dave replied.

Thats the same size I have for mine, I just let both ends of the fuel hose soak in warm water for abit then got it to slide on. Dave

Edit: sorry mine was 3/8th

Gets measured at the return? How does that work?

The pressure is regulated by increasing or decreasing fuel flow back to the tank. Increasing fuel flow decreases pressure, decreasing fuel flow increases pressure. The regulator is on the return side and is the gate that retains pressure in the fuel rail. Pressure can only be read at the inlet.

Oops. brain fart. It's been a while. I had to go outside and take a look at my car. It's the regulator that's on the return side, not the gauge.

Thanks for keeping me honest.
