The "A" transmission hard parts are identical to the "B" parts. We actually used a B braking drum in my buddies "A" since all three a's were bad. I haven't tried it yet but if you changed the front fluid pump and valve body from a "B" into the "A" transmission and rewire the main plug that would probably take care of all the problems and allow using the HD shift kit. (Again my theory and has not been tested yet) (We are also going to measure the fluid pumps (A&B) to see if there are any differences)
Also when we convert JamesJV0 1999 car over to the "B" transmission I'll make a thread. It really should be a drop in deal. All we should have to do is change the transmission connector. I have to run out and get a roller rocker engine and "B" transmission at the yard, lucky there are like 4-5 of them here to pick from. We are going to do a basic RR engine rebuild and full trans rebuild / shift kit and keep the stock 99' ecu/tcu setup with a FIC6 and some boost. We are building it to see if we can tune it as well as my 2002 autotragic car.
So all the pictures in this thread relate to any "A" "B" "V" "W" transmission. The only difference that I can see is the valvebody and possibly the fluid pump. (And of course the V,W have locking diffs with a different bellhouse)
