Ben, he bought the "complete" GTX turbo which by default, does not come with a turbine housing. NOT the ATP kit as above.

that price is only to upgrade a kit that you have to order from them, it's not a price to get your current turbo upgraded.

new GTX/ETT compressor wheel, new or machine your current compressor housing and balancing of the chra is what you would need.

price should be around $550+ to get it done right. Pure Turbo and Snail Turbo both offer something direct swap but i would still get it balanced.

Oh wow, I was not aware they didn't come with the exhaust housing. Interesting...

That can't possibly be right?

my mistake, its for the GT2871r (1) and (2)

Garrett GTX "71" 11 blade billet 52 Trim Compressor wheel - Compressor Wheels - Turbo Parts

"This is a drop in replacement 11 blade billet for a GT2871R or GT3071R with a 52 trim compressor wheel. The addition of this wheel will increase spool time and flow capability. The turbo needs to be VSR or Cartridge balanced once the wheel is installed. "

^^ most gt2871r are 56trim, the 52 trim are usually made for the VW's eliminator kit.

also, that is not an authentic Garrett wheel not that there's anything wrong with it. just wanted to point it out.

You can get a billet wheel from snail turbo that will fit your current housing. You still will need to have the turbo balanced. the cost to upgrade over the increase in performance is not worth it.

The GTX wheel's advantage is not that it is billet, it's the aerodynamic design, which could be cast and would have the same benefit. In case there was some confusion.

I forgot to mention snail turbo makes a exact copy of the garrett billet and their own design. all the data I have seen the snail turbo design is better than garretts.

In all honesty, the current crop of Garrett GTX is a little bit "behind" the times (especially when compared to the BW EFR series.........IJS )
