I'm pretty sure the VET rods are 19mm like GTIR rods. And the VE block has the oil groove like the GTIR that is why I was thinking on the GTIR mains/rods bearing setup...

Rods im not sure but I think member Sealti96 can chime in on this as he has worked with a few VET blocks. VE blocks definitely run the 5 hole main bearings.

Hmm my ve didn't have the 5 hole main bearings. Maybe just the vets have it?

my ve did not come with he 5 hole mains either. the oil galley was there for a five hole main but the stock bearings were standard. I did upgrade to the 5 hole mains when I built the motor.

So you used the GTIR bearings in the VE block. What crankshaft did you use? Just trying to make sure about all of this before I order parts...

No. In mine I used the standard acl race bearings for the rods and mains. I have gtir pistons, det s13 rods and the ve 4cw crank.

I wouldn't buy the bearings until after you take the block to a machine shop and have it line bored, decked, and honed........that way they can check the clearances and let you know if its safe to run standard size or if you need oversized bearings. Because you never know

It doesnt matter which crank you use. VE blocks have the oil galley already to be able to run the 5 hole main bearings. Std DET blocks dont except the GTi-R of course.

Yes that would be the best way to do it however, you can probably tell if you removed the old bearings out of the engine and visually inspect them or if you know for sure it had not spun a rod or main bearing. If you spun a main bearing the block and or crank is usually no good.

So basically to summarize if you want to run ACL Race Bearings:

DE/DET (non GTi-R blocks)

Rod Bearings - 4B2960H-STD
Main Bearings - 5M2964H-STD

GTi-R (54C) blocks

Rod Bearings - 4B2976H-STD
Main Bearings - 5M2975H-STD

VE Blocks

Rod Bearings- 4B2960H-STD
Main Bearings - 5M2975H-STD or 5M2964H-STD

Any other SR20 block can have the oil groove machined to fit the GTi-R main bearings, and std SR20 rods are 17mm but can be machined to fit the wider 19mm rod bearings.
