Reuse Cosworth head gasket
I have a cosworth gasket that has about 15 mins of idling and maybe a mile of driving. Is it reuseable? I installed a head that had some bad valves and I'm not super excited about trashing a $200 gasket that is nearly be and new. Obviously I will if I have to but would like to hear some opinions...

tough call but I would probably reuse it...more money, more work, or both...it's a toss up...only one way to find out!?

The head and block were both resurfaced before this gasket went in if that changes any opinions...

Found some old posts from a Google search. Looks like some have reused it. I'll post up what I decide to do and the resluts. Still curious to hear some more opinions and experiences. Copper spray or no copper spray on a reuse?

should be fine to reuse. Especially if non of the coating even came off yet.

Yeah it literally has about 15 mins of idle time and a couple trips around the block on it. I'll post some pics of it once I pull the head. Hopefully this weekend.

Since the head was resurfaced (assuming at a professional machine shop) you should be OK.
However.

If you are putting A LOT of money into this motor, and from the looks of your avatar you are - I wouldn't do it. There are so many variables now for example, when it was heated and installed, did the gasket change size, even in fractional amounts? How will the re-install go if it is?

If I was doing a big job like a head gasket change (again) I wouldn't take any chances because my car was down for like 2 months. What about selling the gasket and just putting the money towards a new one. Maybe the person who would buy it needs a head gasket for his stock motor with lots of miles that it won't matter....? things to think about

I have reused cosmetic metal head gaskets with no issues but i have never used a cosworth, because I'm a cheap fwd sr20 bastard.

You know someone should make a sticky thread with this type of data, reused able head gaskets and head studs. Maybe what other item can be reused and what can't.
