Tuning on E85 for max torque
While doing some research on tuning E85, I came across this paper by a few students at MIT and their finding are interesting.

Using a GM LNF ECOTEC engine 4 cylinder, 2.0l engine (direct injection) and a K04 turbo running at 2.4 bar, they found that E85 can handle intake temperatures of up to 130c (266F) at 30 degrees timing before knock and as high at 160c (320F) at 18 degrees timing before knock.

The engine specs are:
Bore: 86mm
Stroke: 86mm
C/R: 9.2:1
Intake cam dur: 235
Exhaust cam dur: 226

It seems that E85 has a lot more potential than at first glance.

I forgot to add the link. Take a look, I may have overlooked something. Hopefully someone smarter than I can chime in.

E85 makes me wanna slap a log style turbo on my VE, and still make sweet power with great cooling! It's super!

One of the neat things noted in the paper was the back pressures they monitored at MBT would allow for smaller piping. It sounds like a log, as restrictive as they are, would give some great numbers on a ve.

Yeah, I remember looking at this graph, VE with a log, and thinking what the frick frack, just by changing fuel?!:

I forgot all about those graphs. This was the main reason I switched over to E85.

A question for anyone that has used adjustable cam gears while tuning on E85. What kind of results did you get? Losses, gains...?

Cool, but this is why people have been using e85 for years.

No doubt. I never came across this as a reference on any other forums though. And, there is a lot of bad information and flat out lies when it comes to E85.

Corn is for cobs!
Corn fuel, as sold to you, by Mr. Bob Hope.

I dislike it.

It works wonders NA too... if there were more availability in the sticks where I live I'd be running it in the b13 on my next build. We've seen very nice gains at the shop, you just have to have the fueling to back it up...
