hood exit gains
Does anyone have an idea about the gains of a hood exit exhaust as opposed to a full 3 inch set up? Is it worth the gains at the track?

Is it strictly a track car?

You should check to see if they have a DB limit at your track. And if you park the car outside make sure to cover up dump don't want to rain in your turbo.

The weight is and a few ponies is the Benefit. Couldn't imagine it being more than 15 hp. But exhaust all the way back could easily weigh 100 lbs so theoretically .1 from weight and maybe .1 to .2 from the power gain. So .2 in the 1/4 mile. ... guessing. Seams like a good reason to me. If racing in a class look at there rules though because certain class races are not allowing hood/fender exit.

@compactfean, An exhaust weighing in at 100lbs?? You do realize it's several feet of stainless turbing and probably no resonator or cat and with a muffler, right?? It won't weight more than say 30-40lbs on a bad day.............

1) Very minimal exhaust backpressure
2) Minimal weight due to lack of exhaust piping
3) Ease of routing (I cannot image the hell of running a bigger say 4+" underneath and out the rear/side of the car!! Yiikkkeessss!)
4) Maybe a few lbs of "force" acting on the front end (good for a FWD) from the extreme velocity of the exhaust.
5) Bling factor (that's worth about 50-60 WHP right there, right??)

Wouldn't recommend for anything than a pure race car.

My hood exit is quieter than my side exit with a resonator

Mine, with full exhaust and 6262, is definitely not quiet when the wastegates open!

The reason I was asking was because I am trailering my car to the convention so i was thinking about going hood exit for racing it and screwin around
