In the event you see such an occurrence you might have a bad airflow meter or bad grounds or a power supply problem ..

I did run it on the dyno without vvl in for the first few runs, just to check it was making power as it should. I thought the numbers were low as he'll but the graph looked fine. Was running 6psi at first and made like 140hp without vvl...then made 153 or so with vvl back in. I didn't notice the curve changing a whole lot. And yes the turbo is T2.

T2 turbo is too small I think... You need a long tubular manifold large waste-gate and big turbo for VVL to work... Also having twin scroll is a huge difference as well as it reduces the back feed on overlap..

not correct. many guys here run stock GTiR manifolds with t28, gt28, gt30's on VE's and have zero issues...stock and mod'd engines

Wait a second...is that an N/A VE? Look at his AFR! Goes at or below 10:1 on first run LOL...there's your problem! Unless his resonator was causing it to turn stupid rich (which could have been tuned out anyways), that's gotta be where the majority of that 40whp came from without a doubt. If his fuel was messed up I wouldn't doubt timing was also off. I think people are overestimating exhaust stuff.

I wanna see the same run w/corrected tune w/the resonator.

maybe this will clear things up.
Run 1 was how I had the car setup to run so I could drive it to the dyno.
Heres the setup when I got there
-Stock VE with stock cams
-333 inj
-Stock DE ECU
-Stock DE MAF
-Dizzy full advanced to get it to run halfway decent.
-2.5 crushbent crappy exhaust, with horrible resonators ,apparently.
I actually thought it was running decent until I saw the first pullI drove it for a couple weeks and 4.5 hours to the dyno.
I bet theres alot of guys running their cars like this and dont even realize they are barely making more power than a bolted DE

I don't think there's many VE guys running around with stock DE ECUs..well, I at least hope not

Can you link to an example?? It's all about the pressure ratio.. I'm not saying it's impossible but for example if you try to run big boost on a small turbo with high overlap you going to burn up the motor and make no power.. You run small turbo you need HUGE bypass volume .. Again it's about the pressure ratio..

I also think if you're a turbo VE and you're not making over 400WHP you're using the wrong engine for your goal.. VEs are a go big or go home.. There ain't no half stepin ..

On a 2.0L engine on 444cc of fuel I made about 340whp on 3bar FP ...

Big john made 270whp on a stock ve with a t25 using the internal waste gate.
