Help me ID this turbo...
OK, I need some help guys. I have this turbo here and I'm not positive of what it is. I'll tell the full story later, but I'd like to just see what people say it is based on the physical appearance of the turbo. It's obviously cast as a garrett, but doesn't have an ID tag on it anywhere, although closer inspection revealed that it may have in the past... here's some pics, please post your thoughts if you have very valid ones.... I don't need guesses here. Not trying to be rude or anything, I juust need opinions from people who know their crap. Rumor has it that it initially came from ATP or Mikos, but there's no way of backing that up. Without any further Ado, here are pics:

the only tag on the turbo:

print on the turbine housing:

possibly where an Id tag was?

This turbo has slight lateral play an about 1mm thrust play. please post up!

I'm guessing disco potatoe? Is it an .86 hotside? You coud also go a bit further and pull the housings off and measure the wheel sizes. Then compare notes with garretts page.

It is a bigger t28 hybrid of some sort. It's hard to tell by just lookin though. Your are probably feeling the normal ball bearing play in it also.

OK, cool, thanks. That's reassuring. I thought a BB turbo was supposed to have less play than a regular journal bearing turbo...?? It has normal play for a journal turbo, but I've never owned a BB before... It is actually a .64 a/r on the hotside, I believe, and I'm thinking about getting a .86 from ATP, it's not too expensive...
