Clutch, idle, AFRs, cold motor- stall
Ok, after I completed my build and swapped 5+ years ago I battled a "no cold idle" till fathers day weekend last year when I solved it finally. Ever since, it still struggles a bit till just beginning to warm up. Recently I realized it idles no problem if I keep my foot on the clutch. Also, AFRs lean out slightly when I release the clutch. Once up to temp, all is well. Ideas?

Fx400 installed a couple years ago, maybe 5k on it. Calum realtime, new cable last year.

@Vadim and @BenFenner have both been a major help with my past idle issue, figure who else better to maybe help wrap this up once an for all :-D

During your next engine warm up instead of depressing the clutch play with triggering the clutch switches. One at the top for when the clutch is out and one at the bottom when the clutch is to the floor. Try to trigger these switches without the use of the pedal. Let us know if you notice any changes.

What did you find to be the cause of your cold idle problem way back when?

In trying to figure that out, you probably dicked with the plastic idle screw on the idle control valve. It's likely that screw needs to be backed out a little?

How is your coolant temp sensor? I assume that got replaced a while back with a new (correct) part?

se200- Now that's an idea...more so because sometimes the ignition won't turn over with my foot pressed on the pedal. With the key turned I will kind of, pump the pedal a couple times, till she "makes contact" and the motor starts turning over.

I can see myself struggling already, lol! First getting down to find the switches. Then further trying to reach in with both hands...one to feather the throttle to keep from stalling and the other to push the buttons. As always, I will follow up! I never leave an archive empty!!!

Thanks for the idea!

Ben- simply, I didn't have the IACV breather hooked up from the air intake before the TB to the specified port on the manifold. I'll tag you in the other thread to recap :-)

Your clutch might be engaging while it's depressed. Adjust cable and see if it helps.

True. It'd seem from my previous idle issue it just may be the simple thing to fix it.

But It don't matter if its neutral or not Vadim. Thats what makes me think otherwise.

Basically 10*F all week, attempted to start her last night to investigate but wound up "click click clicking" and tossing on the battery charger. I haven't forgot to follow up, I always do...and will.

Just gave it a go...pressing the clutch switches made no change. I did feel an ever so slight engagement though when releasing the pedal while in neutral. I'll try tightening the cable a bit next. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll update down the line. Funny, in this extreme cold weather the cold idle map must be dumping fuel a little more than usual. Rpms dropped a little but not enough to stall her.

If only I drove the ol girl in the winter that turbo would LOVE these air temps!
