Thread: 3.5 and 4 inch exhaust... whos gottem

Been searchin a lil while but i havnt found a definitive thread on.exhaust larger than three inches. between the ve guys makin more power on 3 inch and my buddys v8 running 4 inch on each side makin 875 hp..it just seems like a turbo car makin 400ish should be runnin more than 3 inches

why do i not see more people runnin larger full exhausts minus the clearence issues. obviously its an issue for bottoming out with some of you guys that are lowered but im not, so a little cutting where needed isnt a big deal for whats already a ever on going project car.

Is it all just a bad idea? Idk you guys tell me

I think its a great idea to go big

But itsnt always practical, most guys top out at 3" and don't have an problems with exhaust flow.
Wouldn't hurt to go larger but none of us really run a big enough turbo.

Also most of these cars are street cars with full exhaust and 3" DP doesn't even clear let alone a 3.5"

What kind of power are you looking for?
My buddy made over 900whp with his EVO with a 3" exhaust and I made 641whp with a 3" exhaust with two mufflers and a resonator. I don't think you need much bigger than 3" but you never know it might help.

Vibrant sells some wicked ovaled tubing that would make awesome exhaust and help with clearance, but it's super pricey.

I have only used the oval stuff for side exit systems - never thought of it for a full system thou.

Here is a pic of the exhaust on my 97 B14. It is 3" Burns Stainless and has done me very well considering that is it over 10 years old. No flow restictions or problems at all as I had and exhaust pressure gauge attached after building. As you can see by the resonator going 4" isn't exactly practical.

I have a Apexi GT spec exhaust on my S14. 75MM - 85MM - 95MM the tip is 115MM.

Thats the nicest exhaust on a b chassis I've ever seen lol

My next exhaust set up will be 3" aluminum. I mostly want it for the weight.
