The compression can be whatever you want it to be, The Nismotronic will be able to dialed in on the spot on a dyno, this means you wont be having to get your chips burned when you want a change or wiring in the a cheap fuel tuner. The tune wouldn't cause your car to spin a bearing. use a DE crank that would be fine for any application. Stock rods would be fine for power applications. I saw a stock VE+T push 400whp last week without issues thus far. You can use DET used internals or if you wanted to get serious you could do CP pistons and eagle rods, but if you wanted to get out of it cheap. More than likely if you dont want more than 400whp then DET rods and VET pistons would do you fine...
