I hear that as well, but I rather put 1000-1500 in it now and not have to worry about the motor for another 10years than to be running a stock motor which I wouldn't feel comfortable hitting redline in at 14psi. im at the point where I want to do it one more time and do it right. 1500$ is a lot for me. but I want this car to last me

x2

If the motor is healthy and the tuning is solid.

you are more likely to blow a motor that has been opened and messed with than a stock motor that has not

But the hard part is finding a good stock motor now a days. The last one I got was from someone that bought it from a motor importer and it took a crap

get one from a trusted source here on the forums, not just anyone. I used to be able to pick up beautiful sr20de motors in miami for $350-400. I can imagine they are a little harder to find now, but they are still around.

Cheapest I've found in my area is 650. Plus costs of going to pick It up in LA 80 $ in gas call is 750. For another 3-400 I can have low compression pistons performance rods, bearings and everything will be looked over... It is scary to thing of putting so much money into building a motor though and I have issues on start up.
