Ah man that really sucks, I felt bad just watching it!

nope no detonation. lifter failed and thew the rocker and held the left side #3 exhaust valve open too far or got stuck open or maybe bent the valve holding it open, the right side #3 exhaust valve is fine. so thats what the ticking i was hearing was. Just stupid stuff. oh well. I went through 1st and 2nd quick even though i bogged bad off the line, slicks held good though with no spinning. probably would have been a 12.5-6 run had i made it, haha

No, i dont think you comprehend on how bad of luck this really was and how rare that is. Ive never seen a lifter fail like that and pop a rocker off and get soo unlucky to bend the valve open and hit the piston. I have thrown all the rockers execpt one before on my first se-r reved to estimated 12k and nothing happened, Rockers were in billions of pieces, cleaned up the top of the head with a magnet, put a new set of rocker arms in, and fired it right up and went to the track that weekend to run exactly the same times i was running before. So yeah, for that rocker to bend the valve like that sticking it open not even over reving it is just stupid and unheard of, If the rocker wouldnt have bent the valve all i would have been out of was a rocker arm, ive got tons of them. I would have lost that cylinder and not the whole motor.

Thats the thing too, i lost the cylinder right at the top of 2nd a second later the motor went. Just very very unlikely. A jdm will perform good, Im going to take it easy on it and run 12psi around town and not going to take it to the track until i get a daily driver because i cant be out of a car like this again. I need a car for work. My wife gets pissed when i have to borrow her car. lol. So yeah hopefully after summer i will hit up the track again before the convention. Run 18psi again on race gas, should be a little stronger due to the little higher compression. So it will be back up soon so i can get some good pics of all our cars and some good vids.
