I hate dealing with OEM replacement turbos
Just a bit of a rant, I got spoiled with aftermarket turbos that have nice housings that don't require any extra flanges or have any serious fitment issues. It's like every time I change turbo types waste about two days just trying to clock it to clear the radiator, then getting the waste gate to fit right. etc.

I finally got the GT28r in and clocked right, to find out that my 3 bolt oem outlet is not 2" FML thus non of my couplers work. Almost wished I just stayed with disco...

I just haven't driven the car in two weeks so all the pain without the fun makes you doubt it all haha.

If you get an OEM turbo and use it exactly as it is, you have a lot less headache, but if you want to say clock down a BlueBird T25 or GTiR you start running into stupid issues that after some time just start getting to you. My best advice is, find one turbo and just stick with it. I've been through about 6 turbos on my P11 because I didn't like how they felt. But I've been with 1 turbo on my B15, simple T25 yet it's so amazing for street driving, autocrossing, or even race tracking.

I had a custom outlet pipe made by a local fabrication shop for $30. Brought them the flange off the stock outlet pipe and they made a candy cane pipe that will fit on any 3-bolt housing and clears the radiator fans no problem. Couplers only go on about a foot from the housing.

Couldn't agree more! Hate having a car I cannot enjoy because of down time and changing setups. Other than my dampers, I set it and forget it

That's a very good deal, I'm temped to weld one together myself. I used to have a hotshot outlet, while they are pricey, I do regret selling it, sadly they are only good for T25's flange angle.

I don't mind having a down time when I'm making new improvements, it's just doing the same task over and over gets old. P11 is just too fat to have a slow spooling turbo, I'm finally just settling with a GT28r, hopefully it will spool more like a T25 while still giving me 250+whp.

What I mean is

Why buy a 200 lb-ft clutch when upgrading to a 500 lb-ft has almost zero driveability effects once you learn how to drive??

Do it once and give yourself room. Set a goal and build higher to compensate. Makes the downtime shorter and time enjoyed longer with a bigger headroom for mistakes or growth

I do not know how those guys do it who changes setups every weekend . I just simply couldn't and I would end up selling the car for the very reason of the car not being driven. No thanks . If its broken, I upgrade. If it's not broken, I don't fix it

I will strongly disagree with the clutch example. Clutch IMO, like a MAF should be sized around 20% over of your power goals. But I daily drive all of my cars, and I will say even the JWT metal disc (350wtq max) was too rough for a comfortable daily driving. OEM disc's is where it's at, but your limited to 250wtq max.

MAF is the same way because if you go too big, you loose a lot of resolution down low, thus your driveability suffers.

You know @Keo, well he rubbed off on me so both of us have been going through setups a ton! Before I knew Keo I had a simple setup and was fine and dandy (though I did have the same issues when I went T28 ha)
