Largest turbo front mounted to GTiR
What's the largest turbo anyone on here has mounted on the front of a GTiR with the stock manifold? I have a friend with a GT3076R and I'm curious as to whether or not it will bolt up. It has the T25/T28 flange, so it will mate up with the turbo manifold. I'm just thinkin' clearance.

the the compressor housing is the issue. the 3071 and 3076r have a compact compressor housing option with the 2.75 inlet. I have seen a hx35 on a gtir manifold but the manifold required major modification to get it to fit. Not sure if a full size radiator would fit. The gtir manifold is good to around 400-450whp then it becomes a restriction. So if you shooting for big numbers you would be better off with a custom manifold.

Why try and fit something so big on a T2 flange? Flow would be the limiting factor on the factory cast manifolds

It's more of a temporary solution. Have a deal worked out to trade turbos and don't want to have to get anther manifold at the moment. If I can front mount it for now, I'd be more willing to get into the bigger turbo. I don't see myself pushing more than 400-450whp ATM anyway.

474hp was made on the GTi-R manifold back in 2001.

I have seen a car do 498whp on a stock gtir manifold. I have that magazine too. as I recall they could not keep a tranny in it
