Aren't the JWT S3M cams designed for the GTiR head? I wouldn't expect any issues with them. I have straight SR20DET cams... from a bluebird... as I understand it, they won't work without issues.

Correct - JWT S3M are designed for the 54C head. Any SR hydraulic lifter cam will give you problems.

Well, it's a good thing I was able to run down the original cams for my engine. The guy I bought it off of was going to use them in an SR20DET he's building. Good thing I talked him out of it. I plan on getting some S3Ms at a later date, but I already have too much into this build to justify the cost right now.

Thanks for all of your help. I should be getting the head back from the shop next week... Pressure tested, New exhaust valves w/ a 3 angle job, and decked. Hopefully she'll run like a champ after all that expense.

??? Do you really want to re-shim the head twice ???

Do it once, do it right. Do it that way you REALLY want it. In the end it's worth the wait.

Doesn't really matter to me if I do it twice at this point. I don't want the added $560 for a set of S3Ms right now. That probably won't happen until the car is down for the winter anyway.
