Starting to look into boosting my VE and have a few questions.
I think since i have decided im ready to conclude my build, i have decided that i will no longer build an NA car and finish my car with going VE-T. Not sure what i will be doing with my ITB's but i will keep them for now. With that said, if anyone can chime in, i have a few questions about boosting my VE. My goals are simple. My car is a STREET CAR, so i don't need super high horsepower, so my hp goals are about 320-380/400whp tops with stock pistons. I don't think i want to go any bigger than a T28 size Turbo so i think the VET ex. manifold should be more than enough for my HP goals.
1. If i got a GT2871R (used) now and later upgraded to a GTX2860R (new), are these turbos similar that i wouldn't need to change my intercooler piping/configuration?
2. Is the stock compression of both the VE(10.3:1) and 20V (11.0:1) going to be OK at 400whp or am i being too enthusiastic? I am even ok with just 350whp if my compression is too high. I will be using a Series 2 AEM ecu.
3. I have noticed(never looked into turbo before) that the intercooler piping ranges from 2"-2.5" on similar set ups. I am assuming going 3" intercooler piping isn't needed and 2-2.5" piping will be fine?
Thanx for everyone's time.
