VE+T build is due faster than I expected...
I'm starting to have more issues out of my DE+T (hearing knock), so instead of dropping the coin on pulling and fixing it, I'm just gonna baby it and start working on my VE+T.

I have a DET block w/ squirters I could use, but I think I want to save that for my big build (bored over, sleeved, forged, etc, etc)...

I'm needing to get this done quick, and I don't want to drop too much into this engine as I'm planning on a major build next time around.

Please reply or PM me with any parts that you have lying around that you wouldn't mind getting rid of. Price, pic if possible, and how quickly you could get it out to me. I'm needing to make this happen within the next few weeks.

Anyone have a complete VE they're not using that they could make me a deal on? I'd have to tap it for my turbo still, but a complete VE would at least have the extra oil lines to the head and such already. I'll pay shipping and PP fees, I don't care. I could just order an imported one, but I thought I'd see if I could help someone out on here with the cash if I can find one with relatively low miles.

I've looked around the classifieds, but haven't found anything promising. If you know of something on there and have a minute, post a link pls.

Thanks guys!

Did you replace the rod bearings when you rebuilt the motor? If it's just the bearings you can drop the oil pan and do it. Would be cheaper/faster. For VE you should consider a bigger turbo to take advantage of the extra RPM range and power.

Lucas!

Yeah, the engine rebuild was a 100% complete one. ACL bearings, too. I'm pretty damned sure it's knock, but I can't tell where it's coming from while I'm in the car. I was hoping it might have been a lifter acting up as that's easy to replace and I was gonna put another set of S4 cams in anyway... until this crap started. I love this engine and it doesn't have hardly any miles on it at all. I considered just ordering new bearings, but if I did that, I would want to have the crank checked out as well. I'm not beating on it (as little as I can help, that is), so it will probably be okay so long as it doesn't completely spin the bearing.

And yeah, my next build is def. gonna be VE and I'm looking at no smaller than a 2871. If I want to go all out and change everything turbo, I'm gonna pick up a 30 or 35R.

I might take some time this weekend to get down to the shop, drop the cross member and the oil pans and see what's going on. I could use the opportunity to replace my oil return line and rear motor mount too.

Thanks for replying, bud.

Were you driving so slow that oil wasn't even circulating to cause knock? I'd turn that boost up. Hunger for more power

I didn't hear any knock in boost, and my nismotronic wasn't picking any up... but she's toast now anyway.

I have a friend with a hardly used imported GTIR he's gonna sell me for a good price it'll probably be going in next weekend if I can get my clutch ordered.

be aware of all the little details involved in a GTI-R swap before you commit.

I don't know all the specifics, but I know it's not straight-forward like other DET swaps.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll get all the info. IIRC, I think it's a change to the cross member for the motor mounts, but that should be most of it. I'm already using an OBD1 ECU because of Nismotronic, so no problems there. And this engine was already in a USDM car, so the sensors and everything are already setup for it. Oh... and I think it comes with a JWT programmed ECU... so.....
