The result is a disaster. literally. First run i didnt lauch it at the rev limiter just to get a feel of how the slicks were going to grip oh they griped. 4500 rpm and bogged, went through first and second with no spinning at all, it pulled soo freakin hard, End of second gear right at redline the #3 rod went through the block. Coasted all the way down the track to a 16.5 @55mph, just shows how fast i got through 1st and 2nd gear. 60ft was only 2.20 but again no spinning at all unlike when i ran on street tires.

Well needless to say i think im gonna be out of the turbo game for a while. Its just one thing after another and i need a reliable car for work. So I will be selling off a bunch of parts and just put another JDM in and leave it basicly stock for a while until i can get a DD vehicle and save up money to just go with a bigger setup. I gave it what i could. Stupid thing was about 3/4 the way up there i started hearing a ticking sound that sounded very well like a lifter, did not sound like rod knock at all. Cuz it cut in and out and was really light and only at about half the speed of the engine. So i figured oh well ill run and it should just go away, Probably due to switching back to synthetic from the regular oil i had in there to break in the rings.

Neways so needless to say my buddies Lancer EVO towed me 230 miles home with a 20ft towstrap, funny we got two thumbs up from highway patrol officers. we were crusing at 65mph the whole way home, hahaha.

So if anyone wants any parts listed in my sig let me know. I will let some friends have first dibs that are local so just ask and i will see what i can do. This night sucked. And it was such a beautiful night out too. Ill be back though and bigger. Im not that quick to just leave the SR game. I dont think i could ever do that again.

That sucks dude. Good thing you're staying in the game though. Sometimes it takes longer than expected to get where you wanna be, you'll get there in time though.

Well I guess when you are pushing past the known safe limits trying to set records and prove something you have to expect to fail sometimes. You gave it a shot though and there's something to be said for that.

so you through a rod on a fairly new motor? That sucks but good luck on whatever you decide to do next.

Damn that sucks.

You should have called it a day when you heard the knocking regardless if you thought it was a lifter or not.

Why not just swap in a JDM DE and boost it with your current set up?

i would but ive put a ton of money already from other stuff breaking. Yeah i will have to pull apart the motor and see what failed. more than likely it was a bearing, I should have left the regular oil in. For some reason it seems lately that the cars ive been putting mobil 1 synthetic in have been having problems, my buddies 200sx that was running like a champ on regular oil then we switched to mobil 1 and the next time he got on it he spun the #1 bearing, then i switched out that bearing and put mobil 1 back in it and the next time he got on it it spun the #3 rod bearing, Its weird, Also put mobile 1 in my buddies nx and it developed rod knock, its weird, ive never seen so many problems all at once and the only changes was the mobile 1. I used mobile 1 before this from the beginning with no problems at all. So i dont get it, Just really bad luck or what. I will let you guys know later what happened. Hopefully it didnt damage my CP piston on that #3 so i can sell them off. I will post pics when i tear it apart.

something must have happened durning the build, something was missed not tightened enough etc etc. a built bottom should take a t25 with no issues as completely stock de's take t25's with out a thought.

good luck with the next build man. go oem det motor or a jdm de and be done with it. tried and proven ways to make power.

stratton.
