Ashton, what made you choose the 20w50 oil? I'm trying to decide which weight would be best for my engine. I used standard clearance ACL bearings for rods, mains, and thrust. Rings are gapped for big boost. I live in south Alabama so 90°-100°F is the norm for summer.

I'm going to use Joe Gibbs or Brad Penn myself and just want to make sure I don't go too thick or thin. Just looking for an opinion from someone with a similar setup.

No worries with the thicker oil. I ran mobil 1 15w50 religiously for over a year on a built motor with std clearance std size acl's all around and after 14k miles of torture the bearings were spotless and looked like the day i put them in.

Im going back to std clearance on the mains as well. Not looking forward to pulling the motor back out but its something that needs to be done. The thick oil while cold is taking up the extra clearance just fine, but when it gets fully warmed up, its not and oil pressure is too low and im getting some bottom end noise.

Might do a vid on how quick i can pull the motor out with the quick disconnect everything Im willing to bet i can have it out in less than 30 minutes easily.

Ummm in TX the weather gets really hot... and I've run 20w50 weight and works great for controlling the temps.

Care to take a wage on that.

Ill record the entire thing. I have no exhaust, its literally remove both axles, remove the crossmember, disconnect the shifter cables and speedo cable, disconnect the entire harness from one Mil Spec Connector, disconnect the battery, disconnect the AN fuel lines, three vac hoses that are easy to get to, remove the alternator for more clearance, disconnect two radiator hoses from the engine, disconnect the cold and hotside charge pipes, then lower the motor out the bottom after removing the passenger and trans mount bolts. Ive done a motor pull taking my time with no air tools in 45, I can have the motor out in under 30, guaranteed.
